Cardiff Met Sport is proud to be part of the Founding 100 supporting Cymru Women’s Sport, joining a growing movement committed to creating equitable opportunities for women and girls in sport across Wales. Cardiff Met Sport is listed among the organisation’s founding members, alongside individuals, groups and organisations helping drive that change.

Cymru Women’s Sport is a not-for-profit charitable organisation dedicated to ensuring women and girls across Wales have equitable opportunities in sport. Its vision is clear: to create fairer opportunities across participation, leadership and investment, areas where women and girls continue to face persistent inequality.
The organisation’s work is built around three core pillars: advocate, connect and celebrate. Through advocacy, Cymru Women’s Sport pushes for gender equity in policy, governance, strategy and investment. By connecting people and organisations, it helps create opportunities for collaboration and progress. Through celebrating success, it raises the profile of women and girls in sport across Wales and highlights the positive action already being taken.
Those aims strongly align with the values that shape sport at Cardiff Met. As a university with a long-standing commitment to performance, development and opportunity, supporting a movement focused on equity for women and girls in sport is both important and necessary.

Cymru Women’s Sport also places strong emphasis on the way it works. Its values include positively disrupt, meaningful inclusion and purposeful collaboration. Together, these principles reflect an ambition not only to challenge the status quo, but to do so in a way that is inclusive, deliberate and impactful.
That commitment to change is reflected within Cardiff Met too, Michael Peacock, Head of Performance Services at Cardiff Metropolitan University, is part of the Board of Trustees. His work leading support for more than 400 performance pathway athletes at Cardiff Met, as well as his involvement in initiatives including ArcHER and LeadHERship (Team Wales), both of which aim to create inclusive and empowering environments for women in sport.
Being part of the Founding 100 is an opportunity for Cardiff Met Sport to stand alongside others across Wales who are committed to creating lasting change. It is also a chance to support an organisation that is not only challenging outdated systems, but also building networks, championing stories and helping create the conditions for women and girls to thrive in every aspect of sport.
As Cymru Women’s Sport continues to grow, Cardiff Met Sport is proud to support its vision and to play a role in helping build a more equitable future for women and girls in sport across Wales.
