The career path of Harrison Walsh can be viewed as one built on perseverance, adaptation and commitment to excellence in sport. In fact, prior to moving to para athletics, Harrison was firmly on the road towards a professional career in rugby.

The young man represented Wales at Under-20 level and played for the Ospreys. However, that dream came crashing down in 2015 when a knee injury led to nerve damage to his foot.
However, for Harrison Walsh, that injury did not signal the end of his sporting career – but merely its beginnings.
At Cardiff Metropolitan University, where Walsh obtained his Strength, Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage degree, the athlete managed to recreate himself as a competitor. In the training ground of the Cardiff Archers at the National Indoor Athletics Centre, Walsh found a conducive environment where academic knowledge and competitive prowess could meet to pave the way to para-athletics success.
Specialising in the F44 discus throw and shot put, Walsh has become an accomplished athlete on the global platform. Walsh’s bronze medal in the F44 discus throw at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games marked a significant milestone for the player, showcasing his dedication and years of perseverance.
Focusing on the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Walsh’s career journey is a testament to the possibilities when talent meets challenge and opportunity to start anew. Through CardiR Met’s involvement, one can appreciate the institution’s dedication to assisting athletes in redefining their futures and competing at the elite level once again.
