Cardiff Met Archers crowned WEBBA Cup champions after final victory over Trowbridge Flames

Cardiff Met Archers’ women’s basketball team celebrated a memorable cup triumph earlier this month, defeating Trowbridge Phoenix Flames 68-58 in the WEBBA Women’s Cup Final.

The Archers produced a strong all-round team performance to secure the trophy, with current international scholar Emme Eisenman named Game MVP after an influential display. Eisenman finished with 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists, playing a key role at both ends of the court.

One of the standout stories of the final was Martha Bailey, one of the club’s U18 junior players, who led the Archers’ scoring with 19 points. Her performance on the big stage underlined the strength of the pathway within the club and the opportunities being created for younger players to contribute alongside more experienced teammates.

The Archers also benefited from a commanding presence on the boards, with J. Ferland collecting 14 rebounds and adding 10 points, while the wider squad played their part in seeing out the win against a determined Trowbridge side.

The victory marked a special moment for first-time head coach and master’s student Jasmine Graham, who guided the team to cup success in her debut season in charge.

It was a win that reflected the identity of the club, bringing together Cardiff Met students, emerging junior talent and long-standing senior players. With experienced figures such as Lucy Witt continuing to play an important role within the group, the final felt like a full-circle moment for the programme and a fitting reward for the work taking place across the women’s basketball pathway.

A huge congratulations to the Cardiff Met Archers players, coaches and wider support team on an outstanding WEBBA Cup Final victory.
