Cardiff Met student Liv Daniels is preparing for a special occasion in her adopted city as Gloucestershire Women get set to face Kent in Cardiff on Sunday 12 July.

Daniels, who studies at Cardiff Metropolitan University and the vice captain of Cardiff Met Cricket for the 2026/2027 season, while continuing to develop her cricket with Gloucestershire, will be part of a squad looking to continue a memorable campaign when they take to the field in the national semi-final.
For Daniels, Gloucestershire’s success has been built on far more than individual performances.
“I think a lot of our success has come from the environment we’ve created at Gloucestershire Women,” said Daniels.
“Everyone is working hard and playing for each other, and there is a real sense of belief and togetherness within the squad. A lot of that is thanks to Fran Wilson, who has created a really positive environment for us all.
“We’ve put in a lot of hard work both on and off the pitch, so it’s great to see that paying off.”

Daniels’ own journey has also seen her combine high-level cricket with university life at Cardiff Met, a decision she says was shaped by the balance the University could offer.
“I chose Cardiff Met because it offers a great balance between studying and playing cricket at a high level,” she said.
“The facilities and the cricket programme really stood out to me, and I felt it was the best place for me to continue developing both academically and as a cricketer.
“At a university like Cardiff Met, lots of other people are doing similar things, so I felt it was the best environment for me to be in.”

That environment is now helping Daniels prepare for one of the biggest days of Gloucestershire’s season, with Cardiff providing a fitting backdrop for a player who has quickly built a strong connection with the city.
“I’m very excited to be playing in Cardiff,” added Daniels.
“It has become a place that feels like a second home, so it will be really special to play such a big game there.
“As a team, our aim is to put in a performance that we can be proud of and give ourselves the best chance of reaching the final.
“Personally, I’m just excited to be part of the occasion, to help the team however I can, and to have an amazing day.”
The semi-final provides another proud Cardiff Met connection on the national sporting stage, with Daniels representing the balance of academic ambition, sporting performance and personal development that sits at the heart of the University’s sporting environment.
