Established in January 2026, the Archer Leadership Programme (ALP) was created as the Cardiff Met Sport | Chwaraeon Met Caerdydd response to the Youth Sport Trust Young Ambassadors initiative. Since then, it has already demonstrated the incredible power of student leadership as a vehicle for maximising engagement in and through sport.

By recruiting five undergraduate students with diverse experiences, skills and perspectives, the programme has built the foundations of a team of ambassadors who embody the four pillars of the Young Ambassadors initiative: Influence, Inspire, Lead and Mentor.
Throughout the year, our ALP Ambassadors have played a pivotal role in shaping and delivering projects that have positively impacted young people across Cardiff. From planning and facilitating Young Ambassador Bronze Conferences to supporting school based tournaments and projects, they have become powerful role models for the next generation.
What makes the ALP so impactful is not only what the ambassadors contribute, but also what they gain in return. Through their experiences, they have developed greater confidence, built meaningful connections, strengthened their leadership capabilities and become more civically minded. By engaging directly with Cardiff’s physical activity and sporting landscape, they have experienced first-hand how leadership through sport can create positive change within communities.
At Cardiff Met Sport | Chwaraeon Met Caerdydd, we are incredibly proud of everything our ALP Ambassadors have achieved this year. Their commitment, professionalism and passion have enabled them to represent themselves, Met Sport and the wider Cardiff Metropolitan University community with distinction.
As we look ahead to the 2026/27 academic year and the continued growth of the Archer Leadership Programme, we are excited to see how future ambassadors will continue to influence, inspire, lead and mentor others across Cardiff.
