Cardiff's School Sport Officer Completes NFL Coach Educator Training at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Cardiff's School Sport Officer, Sam, has successfully completed an NFL Coach Educator course at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, helping to strengthen coach education opportunities across South Wales.

The training brought together coach educators and workforce development staff from organisations across the UK and Ireland including representatives from Ireland Flag Football, the University of Stirling, NFL Germany and the British American Football Association (BAFA).
Hosted at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the course provided participants with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills as Coach Educators while sharing experiences and best practice with colleagues from a range of sporting backgrounds.
One of the highlights of the programme was the practical element, which took place on the NFL field used for the London Games. The unique setting provided an inspiring environment for learning and reinforced the NFL's commitment to developing the game at all levels.

Throughout the day, delegates explored approaches to coach development, discussed effective learning environments and built connections that will support future collaboration across the coach education network.
Reflecting on the experience, Sam said:
"What excites me most about opportunities like this is not just the learning on the day but the impact it can have back in our schools and communities. Developing confident teachers and coaches is key to creating more positive experiences for young people and helping new activities such as Flag Football grow across South Wales.
The connections made throughout the course have also opened the door for future collaboration with colleagues across the UK and Ireland, which can only strengthen the opportunities available to young people. I'm particularly excited to bring this learning back to South Wales and support teachers, coaches and volunteers through our first Coach Education course for schools in December."

The qualification represents an important step forward for Flag Football development in South Wales. With two locally based Coach Educators now operating in the region, there is increased capacity to support teachers, coaches and volunteers who are looking to introduce or develop Flag Football within their schools and communities.
The learning gained from the course will soon be put into practice, with the first Coach Education course for schools across Cardiff and wider South Wales planned for December. The programme will provide teachers and school staff with the knowledge and confidence needed to deliver engaging Flag Football opportunities for young people.
By continuing to invest in workforce development and professional learning, Cardiff is helping to create a stronger network of educators and coaches who can support the growth of school sport and provide positive experiences for young people across the region.
