Young Archers Make History as Cardiff Met Break New Ground in Europe
Cardiff Met FC have made Welsh football history, becoming the first club from Wales to reach the second round of the UEFA Youth League following a 4–1 aggregate victory over Luxembourg side FC UNA Strassen.

The Young Archers secured their place in the next stage of Europe's prestigious youth club competition on Wednesday 14 October, progressing despite a 1–0 defeat in the second leg in Luxembourg.
Jack Lyons' side travelled to the Stade An de Millewisen with a commanding four-goal advantage following their outstanding 4–0 victory at Cyncoed Stadium in September. Although the hosts claimed a narrow victory on the night, Cardiff Met's first-leg performance proved decisive, securing another landmark achievement for the club, the University and Welsh football.
The result sees Cardiff Met become the first Welsh representative to progress beyond the opening round of the UEFA Youth League, surpassing the previous achievements of The New Saints and Haverfordwest County, who both exited the competition at the first stage.

The historic progression continues a remarkable journey for the Cardiff Met Academy, which qualified for European competition for the first time following its National Academi Development League South title and dramatic play-off victory over Connah's Quay Nomads earlier this year.
September's memorable European debut saw goals from Mitch Ford, Harrison Matthews, Caleb Finlayson and Myles McKenzie secure a 4–0 victory in front of a passionate home crowd at Cyncoed, providing the platform for the club's historic progression.
The campaign also highlights Cardiff Met's commitment to combining academic study with high-performance sport, with five first-year University students featuring within the UEFA Youth League squad. Their involvement demonstrates the opportunities available to young athletes to pursue their education alongside competitive football at an international level.
Dr Chris Baker, Director of Football System at Cardiff Met Sport, welcomed the opportunity to build on the club's historic European campaign.
"This represents another significant occasion for Cardiff Met FC and the wider University," said Baker. "This is a fantastic opportunity to build on the momentum of our European campaign, showcase the University and create another memorable occasion at Cyncoed."
Norwegian opposition await as European football returns to Cyncoed
Cardiff Met will now face Norwegian side Stabæk Fotball in the second round of the UEFA Youth League Domestic Champions Path.
The Young Archers will travel to Norway for the first leg on Wednesday 28 October, before welcoming Stabæk to Cyncoed Stadium for the return fixture on Wednesday 4 November, with kick-off time to be confirmed.
Preparations are already underway for another major European occasion at Cyncoed, with the club aiming to welcome a significant crowd of students, staff, families, football supporters and members of the wider Cardiff community.
Tickets for the home fixture will be available soon, with further details on prices, kick-off time and matchday arrangements to be announced through Cardiff Met Sport and Cardiff Met FC channels.
Having already written their names into Welsh football history, the Young Archers now turn their attention to Norwegian opposition and another opportunity to extend their remarkable European journey.
