Cardiff Met Rugby is proudly represented in the extended Wales Women’s training squad ahead of the 2026 Women’s Six Nations, with a strong group of current players and alumni earning selection.

Wales head coach Sean Lynn has named a 45-player training squad as preparations begin for the championship, which kicks off against Scotland at the Principality Stadium on Saturday 11 April.
The squad underlines the strength and depth of Cardiff Met’s women’s rugby pathway, with 13 players connected to the university selected.

Their selection highlights Cardiff Met’s continued contribution to the national game, both through its current performance environment and its growing list of international alumni.
Head coach Sean Lynn has emphasised that selection is based on consistent performance and regular game time, particularly in the Celtic Challenge and Professional Women’s Rugby competitions.
Wales-based players earning call-ups include prop Elan Jones, centre Savannah Picton-Powell, wing Seren Singleton and back-rower Anwen Owen, all of whom have strong links to Cardiff Met’s programme.
Lynn said players are competing for places in the final national squad, which will be confirmed at the end of March:
“The players know they are training and playing for the places in the national squad that will come together at the end of March to prepare for our opening Test match against Scotland. We have made no secret that players need to be playing regular rugby to be selected for the national squad.”
Cardiff Met Rugby continues to establish itself as one of the leading dual-career environments in the UK, combining performance sport with academic excellence.
The selection of both current players and alumni reinforces the strength of the programme and its ability to develop athletes capable of performing on the international stage.
With the Six Nations approaching and competition for places intensifying, the Cardiff Met community will be watching closely as these athletes aim to secure their place in the final Wales squad.
Further updates will follow as the championship draws nearer.
