Cardiff Met 400m Hurdler Selected for World University Games

Cardiff Metropolitan University’s rising track star has earned her place on the global stage after being selected to represent Great Britain students at this summer’s World University Games in athletics. 

A standout performer in the 400m hurdles, Steph Brooks, BSc (Hons) Sport Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage student at Cardiff Met, made an immediate impact in her debut season last year. She finished sixth at BUCS Outdoors and was a key part of Cardiff Met’s gold-medal winning 4x200m relay squad at BUCS Indoors earlier this year.  

Most recently, she became just the third athlete in history to dip under the 40-second barrier for the 300m at the National Indoor Athletics Centre (NIAC), cementing her place as one of the UK’s most exciting young hurdlers. 

Last weekend, Steph competed at the Welsh Championships, gaining valuable experience as she continues her preparations for the British Championships in August. Her selection for the World University Games marks a major milestone in what has already been an outstanding start to her career.
