The latest episode of Up the Archer, produced by students from the Cardiff Met Sport Broadcast MSc, brings together a busy week of sport on campus, combining BUCS matchday updates with athlete interviews and features from across the Cardiff Met sporting environment.
Presented by Tom Flint and Devon Pot, the programme opens with coverage from the Welsh Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which were recently broadcast by Cardiff Met Sport TV. The segment includes reactions from competing gymnasts and highlights the scale of the event, which featured leading Welsh athletes alongside emerging talent.
Attention then turns to BUCS Wednesday, with updates from several Cardiff Met teams in action. The men’s volleyball team recorded a strong 3–0 semi-final victory, securing their place in the cup final and continuing a successful season that has also seen them earn promotion to Tier 1.
Football and rugby fixtures also feature, including national championship quarter-finals and a milestone moment for the men’s rugby side, where Gus reached his 75th appearance for Cardiff Met.
The episode also includes features from Cardiff Met basketball. Women’s player Holly Stones discusses returning from injury and the team’s BUCS campaign so far, while a player profile with Tahz Himenez explores her journey into the sport and her experience joining the squad in Cardiff.
Men’s basketball player Titus Tagal, who moved to Wales from the United States to study at Cardiff Met, also joins the show to talk about adapting to a new environment and competing in BUCS and National League basketball.
The programme concludes with a discussion around the Six Nations, looking at Wales’ performances in the tournament and the wider conversation around Welsh rugby.
Up the Archer is produced by students on Cardiff Met’s Sport Broadcast MSc, a practical course focused on live production, sports journalism and digital content creation. Students gain hands-on experience across roles including presenting, reporting, directing live streams and producing sports content from across the Cardiff Met campus.
