Cardiff Met Archers pair named on Basketball Wales Youth Panel

Two Cardiff Met Archers players have been selected for the inaugural Basketball Wales Youth Panel, a new initiative designed to give young people a stronger voice in the future of the sport across Wales.
The panel brings together young players from clubs and programmes across the country, creating a platform for them to share their views, experiences and ideas as Basketball Wales looks to shape the game at every level.
Among those appointed are our very own Ethan Benningwood of Cardiff Met Archers and Luca Basini-James, who represents both CAVC Academy and Cardiff Met Archers NBL Division 2.
They join a panel made up of six young players from across Wales:Randan Hutchison of Port Talbot Spartans, Isabelle Gwynne of Swansea Storm, Marvi Mian of Newport Basketball Club and Gareth Ellis of Wrexham Warriors.
Basketball Wales says the new Youth Panel reflects its commitment to building a more inclusive and player-centred sport, while ensuring young people’s perspectives are part of the conversation around future development.
Panel members will have the chance to contribute ideas to support the growth of basketball in Wales, provide feedback on competitions, programmes and initiatives, develop leadership and communication skills, and represent the voice of young players within the national governing body.
Gavin Williams, Chief Operating Officer at Basketball Wales, said: “We are pleased to launch the Youth Panel and provide a platform for young people to share their views. Their input will play an important role in helping shape the future of basketball in Wales and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of the next generation.”
The selection of Benningwood and Basini-James is another positive reflection of Cardiff Met’s growing presence within Welsh basketball, with both players now set to help influence the future direction of the game beyond the court.
