Road To Glasgow: Will Bishop Establishing Momentum at Cardiff Met

Will Bishop is a representative of the new generation of Cardiff Met athletes on the road to major international tournaments. He is currently studying Sports Coaching at Cardiff Met and develops in the Cardiff Archers Athletics Club, combining the busy schedule of a university student with competing in two disciplines – which shows both his ambitions and talents. Will is looking to make Commonwealth selection later this year.

On the track and field, Will Bishop has achieved considerable success already. In the 2025 BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships, he won a gold medal in the ambulant long jump and a silver medal in the ambulant shot put, proving his talent and competitive skills. Will has also won Long Jump gold at BUCS Indoors this season. Moreover, besides being a track and field athlete, Will Bishop is active in wheelchair basketball; for example, he participated in the World University Games in the 3x3 format representing Great Britain.

 

For his outstanding achievements in sport, Will Bishop received numerous awards.

Notably, he was recognized as the winner of the "Inspiring My Journey" award at the 2025 Disability Sport Wales Awards, indicating his outstanding results and

commitment.

At Cardiff Met, Will Bishop perfectly represents the university's sporting profile – he is a multi-talented, aspiring, wholly involved in an environment aimed at aiding student athletes achieve their lofty ambitions along with their academic work. With Glasgow 2026 fast approaching, he is among those current students who embody the results of such an environment.


Will is back in action in early May at the BUCS outdoor championships where he will be looking for more medal success in an already successful season.
