Cardiff Met Student Sienna Wilkinson Set to Represent Great Britain at European TeamGym Championships
Cardiff Metropolitan University student Sienna Wilkinson is preparing to represent Great Britain at the 2026 European TeamGym Championships in Finland, marking her second selection for the senior women's national team.
Sienna, who is in her first year of Primary Teaching studies at Cardiff Met, will compete as part of the Great Britain squad at the championships in Espoo from 14 to 17 October.

A member of Majestic Gymnastics Club, Sienna has been involved in gymnastics since the age of three and a half. Her latest selection follows a previous appearance in the Great Britain squad for the 2024 European Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan.
For Sienna, pulling on the Great Britain kit represents the fulfilment of a lifelong ambition and years of dedication to her sport.
"Representing Great Britain means the world to me. It has been my dream since I was three years old, so to finally be able to wear the GB kit and represent my country is such a special feeling.
"My journey in gymnastics hasn't always been easy, and I've faced a few setbacks along the way, which have tested me both physically and mentally. However, looking back, all the hard work and challenges have been worth it to get to where I am today."
Alongside her international sporting commitments, Sienna is beginning a new chapter at Cardiff Met, where she is studying Primary Teaching and is part of the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (TASS).
Balancing the demands of university life with elite gymnastics requires considerable commitment, with Sienna regularly travelling between Cardiff and Bristol to attend training sessions.
"Starting at Cardiff Met University and continuing with my commitment to gymnastics has definitely been challenging. Balancing lectures, studying, training and competitions takes a lot of discipline, organisation and sacrifice.
"I often travel straight from Cardiff Met to Bristol for gymnastics training, which can make my days long and tiring, especially when I have university work to fit in as well."

Despite the challenges of combining academic and sporting commitments, Sienna remains determined to pursue both ambitions.
"Although it can be difficult at times, I love the sport so much that it makes all the sacrifices worthwhile! I am so proud of how far I've come, and being able to represent Great Britain while starting a new chapter at Cardiff Met University in 2026 is going to be an amazing opportunity!"
TeamGym is a dynamic gymnastics discipline in which teams compete across three events: floor, tumble and trampette. The European Championships bring together leading gymnasts from across the continent, testing their technical ability, strength, precision and teamwork.
The senior women's qualification competition takes place on Thursday 15 October, with the final scheduled for Saturday 17 October.
Sienna's achievements highlight the dedication required of student-athletes pursuing success in both education and high-performance sport, reflecting Cardiff Met's commitment to supporting athletes throughout their dual-career journeys.
Everyone at Cardiff Met Sport wishes Sienna and the Great Britain team the very best of luck at the European Championships.
