With the school summer holidays now underway, Cardiff Met Sport is preparing to welcome hundreds of young people to Cyncoed Campus for a packed programme of junior sports camps throughout August. BOOK NOW

From athletics and basketball to football, gymnastics, swimming and tennis, the programme offers children and young people opportunities to stay active, develop their skills and enjoy their chosen sport in a welcoming environment.
The camps cater for a wide range of ages and abilities, with both single-day and full-week booking options available across several sports.
Athletics
Young athletes can experience training inside the National Indoor Athletics Centre during Cardiff Met’s summer athletics camp from Monday 3 to Friday 7 August.
Open to children in school years 2 to 11, the camp will run from 8.30am until 4pm each day. Participants can book individual days or attend for the full week, with activities designed to introduce and develop a range of athletics skills.
Basketball
The Archers Arena will host two weeks of basketball camps during August.
The first camp runs from Tuesday 4 to Thursday 6 August and includes morning sessions for children from Reception to Year 6, alongside wheelchair basketball sessions and a programme for players in Years 7 to 9.
A second week will follow from Tuesday 11 to Thursday 13 August, featuring sessions for Reception to Year 6 and a full-day programme for players in Years 10 and 11. Places can be booked for individual days or for all three sessions.
Football
Cardiff Met Football Academy’s summer programme is already underway, but there are still plenty of opportunities to get involved throughout August.
Weekly camps will continue from Monday 3 August until Friday 28 August, with sessions running from 9am until 4pm for players aged 8 to 16.
The programme includes general academy camps, girls-only Fridays, development taster days and specialist performance days. Players will be grouped by age and stage of development, helping them to enjoy suitable coaching and match-based activities.
Gymnastics
Following a number of successful July sessions, Cardiff Met’s gymnastics summer camps will continue into August on 4, 5 and 6 August.
Half-day camps are available for children aged 5 to 16, running from 9am until midday. Full-day sessions are available for those aged 7 to 16 and run until 3.30pm.
The camps provide an opportunity for young gymnasts to practise and develop their skills in a fun and supportive setting.
Swimming
Cardiff Met’s Learn to Swim summer camp will return to the Cyncoed Campus swimming pool from Monday 10 to Friday 14 August.
The programme is available for swimmers working towards Swim Wales Wave 2, Wave 3 and Wave 4 outcomes. Each booking includes five 30-minute lessons across the week, with morning time slots available.
The concentrated week of lessons provides young swimmers with an opportunity to build confidence and make progress through regular time in the water.
Tennis
Cardiff Met Tennis will continue its summer programme at Cyncoed Campus from Monday 3 to Thursday 6 August.
Under-eight Red Ball sessions will run from 9am to 10.30am, introducing younger players to tennis through games and age-appropriate activities.
A longer camp for players aged 8 to 14 will run from 9am until 3pm, combining tennis coaching with games, skill development and opportunities to make new friends. Both camps welcome beginner and developing players.
Hockey
Cardiff Met’s summer hockey camps are being delivered by trusted partner MAD Hockey, with two three-day skills camps taking place in Cardiff.
The first will run from 10 to 12 August, followed by a second camp from 18 to 20 August. Sessions will focus on technical development, decision-making and helping players build confidence ahead of the new season.
