The School Sport Survey continues to see positive engagement from schools across Cardiff, helping to build a strong and representative Local Authority picture of physical education, school sport and physical activity for children and young people.

To date, 8 schools have fully completed the survey, with contributions from 29 teachers and responses representing 2,647 pupils. In addition, a further 21 schools are currently underway.
This means Cardiff is currently 33% complete towards achieving the minimum dataset required to generate a Cardiff Local Authority School Sport Survey report.
What Is Needed for a Cardiff LA Report
To produce an official Cardiff Local Authority School Sport Survey report, the following minimum thresholds must be met:
• 8,000 pupil responses
• 66 teacher responses
• An estimated 66 schools participating overall
Reaching these thresholds is essential to ensure the data is robust, representative and reflective of the experiences of children and young people across the city.
The School Sport Survey, led nationally by Sport Wales and delivered locally with partners, captures both staff and learner voice and provides nationally comparable insights. Locally, this information will support planning, prioritisation and targeted support for school sport and physical activity across Cardiff.
Incentives and Early Recognition for Schools
As a thank you for taking part, schools that fully complete the School Sport Survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of ten £250 equipment vouchers, which can be used to enhance physical education, school sport and physical activity provision.
We would also like to offer a special thank you and congratulations to Christ the King RC Primary School, who became the first school in Cardiff to fully complete the School Sport Survey and have been awarded a £250 equipment voucher in recognition of their prompt engagement.
In addition, achieving strong levels of completion across Cardiff will strengthen our ability to apply for future funding to support post survey impact, including targeted activity, resources and support for schools based on identified need.
Thank you to all schools that have already completed the survey, as well as those currently in progress. Your engagement is directly supporting both immediate school level benefits and longer term improvement across the city.
Call to Action: Help Cardiff Reach the Threshold
Schools that have not yet started the School Sport Survey are strongly encouraged to take part while the survey window remains open. Every completed response brings Cardiff closer to achieving a full Local Authority report, automatic entry into the equipment voucher prize draw, and stronger opportunities to support schools following the survey.
