Cardiff Met talent features strongly in Wales Women’s Six Nations squad

Cardiff Met will be well represented in the 2026 Women’s Six Nations after 10 current students and alumni were named in Sean Lynn’s Wales squad for this year’s championship.

Wales have selected a 38-player group for the campaign, with Lynn opting for a fresh look squad that includes nine uncapped players ahead of the new four-year World Cup cycle.

Among those selected are current Cardiff Met students Maisie DaviesElan Jones and Savannah Picton-Powell, alongside alumni Molly ReardonCarys PhillipsGwen CrabbLleucu GeorgeJasmine JoyceCarys Cox and Seren Singleton.

The strong Cardiff Met presence underlines the university’s continuing contribution to the women’s game in Wales, with players across the squad reflecting both the strength of the current performance environment and the pathway developed through the Archers programme.

There is added excitement around several players with Cardiff Met links who could make a big impact during the tournament. Current student Savannah Picton-Powell is among the players in line for a first senior cap, while Elan Jones and recent alumna Seren Singleton are also part of the new wave of talent selected by Lynn.

Wales head into the 2026 championship looking to make a strong start with Scotland first up at the Principality Stadium on Saturday 11 April.

The squad also sees Kate Williams take on the captaincy, while Lynn has rewarded players who have impressed through the Premiership Women’s Rugby competition and the Celtic Challenge.

For Cardiff Met, the announcement is another reminder of the university’s growing influence across Welsh rugby. With current students continuing to push for honours and alumni remaining a key part of the international setup, the squad reflects the depth of talent connected to the university.
