Cardiff Met Star Seren Singleton Makes Wales Debut

Cardiff Metropolitan University is proud to celebrate the international debut of alumna and former student-athlete Seren Singleton, who earned her first senior cap for the Wales Women's National Rugby Union Team in the opening round of the 2026 Women’s Six Nations.

Singleton’s selection marks a significant milestone in a journey that has been closely intertwined with Cardiff Met’s thriving performance rugby programme. Her debut is a testament not only to her individual dedication and talent but also to the strength of the university’s commitment to developing elite athletes.

From BUCS Champion to International Stage

During her time at Cardiff Met, Singleton played a pivotal role in the university’s historic BUCS Super Rugby triumph in 2025. The victory was a landmark achievement for the programme, showcasing the depth of talent and high-performance environment fostered at the university. Singleton’s pace, work rate, and attacking flair made her an invaluable member of the squad throughout the campaign.

Her performances in the famous archers’ jersey demonstrated the qualities that would soon catch the attention of national selectors. The transition from university rugby to the international arena reflects the effectiveness of Cardiff Met’s athlete development pathway, which continues to produce players capable of competing at the highest level.

A Proud Moment for Cardiff Met

Singleton’s Wales debut is a source of immense pride for the entire Cardiff Met community—coaches, teammates, staff, and students alike. It highlights the university’s role in nurturing not only sporting excellence but also the personal development required to succeed on the international stage.

Speaking about the achievement, members of the performance rugby programme emphasised how Singleton embodies the values of dedication, resilience, and teamwork that define Cardiff Met sport. Her success serves as an inspiration to current and future student-athletes aspiring to follow a similar path.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Cardiff Met has a long-standing reputation for producing elite rugby talent, and Singleton’s international recognition further strengthens this legacy. Her journey from BUCS champion to representing Wales provides a powerful example of the opportunities available within the university’s high-performance environment.

As she continues her international career, the Cardiff Met community will be eagerly following her progress in the Women’s Six Nations and beyond. Her achievement not only celebrates personal success but also reinforces the university’s status as a leading hub for rugby development in the United Kingdom.
