Cardiff Met FC recognised after standout season at Cymru League Awards

Cardiff Met FC enjoyed a memorable evening at the 2026 Cymru League Awards on Saturday, with players and staff recognised following an outstanding season across both the women’s and men’s programmes.

After a hugely successful campaign, Cardiff Met WFC were particularly well represented in the Genero Adran South categories, reflecting the quality and consistency they showed throughout the season.

Head Coach Jon Nash was named Genero Adran South Manager of the Season, capping a remarkable year in which he guided the Archers straight back to the top flight. Cardiff Met secured the league title in impressive fashion before showing their character in the promotion play-off final, coming through a dramatic penalty shoot-out to seal their return to the Adran Premier.

There was further recognition for Esme Kilburn-Thompson, who collected the Genero Adran South Player of the Season award after an excellent campaign in front of goal. The forward scored 13 league goals and added a further five in cup competitions, playing a key role in the Archers’ title-winning season. She will now look to carry that form into the challenges of the Adran Premier next season.

The club also had reason to celebrate in the men’s game, with Dan John named JD Cymru South Young Player of the Season. Having joined Cardiff Met at the beginning of the campaign, the striker gained valuable senior experience during a loan spell with Ammanford AFC.

That move proved highly successful, with John recording an impressive 27 goal involvements, made up of 18 goals and nine assists, as he helped Ammanford secure promotion to the Cymru Premier. His performances also earned him a nomination for the league’s Player of the Season award, further highlighting the impact he made over the course of the campaign.

Cardiff Met FC also extended its thanks to Ammanford AFC for their role in supporting Dan’s development during his loan spell.

Saturday’s awards provided a fitting moment to recognise the hard work, progress and success achieved across the club this season. Congratulations to Jon, Esme, Dan and everyone honoured on the night.
