Cardiff Met Cricket embraces AI technology with Fulltrack partnership
Cardiff Met Cricket has strengthened its performance environment through a new partnership with Fulltrack AI, introducing advanced ball-tracking and performance analysis technology across the programme.

The technology will give Cardiff Met’s 180 cricket players access to detailed insights from training and match environments, helping players and coaches analyse performance, review individual deliveries and support player development with greater depth.
Fulltrack AI uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to turn footage captured using a smartphone into ball-by-ball video and performance data. Its technology can generate 3D ball tracking, pitch maps and other analytics, while its wider platform includes measures such as ball speed, swing and spin.
By integrating the technology into Cardiff Met Cricket, coaches will be able to capture and review more of what happens during training and competition, while players will have greater opportunity to understand their own performances and use data alongside coaching feedback.
Gethin Smart, Head of Cricket at Cardiff Met Cricket, said:
“This partnership with Full Track AI is a game-changer for Cardiff Met Cricket. With every ball captured and analysed, our 180 players will benefit from industry leading performance insights that enhance learning, development and match performance as Wales' Sporting University.“As we prepare for the launch of our Cricket Performance Management degree in 2027, we're excited to be embracing technology that is shaping the future of the game.”
The partnership also creates an important connection between performance sport and the academic experience at Cardiff Met, particularly as preparations continue for the launch of the Cricket Performance Management degree in 2027.

Fulltrack’s system is designed to make detailed cricket analysis more accessible, with a smartphone and tripod used to record sessions before the platform processes footage and produces individual ball clips and performance data. Sessions can also be shared between players and coaches, allowing analysis to continue beyond the training environment.
For Cardiff Met Cricket, the technology represents another step in developing an environment where coaching, performance, education and innovation work together.
With hundreds of players set to benefit from the partnership, Fulltrack AI will become part of the programme’s approach to helping players better understand their game, develop their performance and prepare for the demands of modern cricket.
