Cardiff Clash Returns as Archers Prepare for Arms Park Showdown
Updated: Oct 5
One of the biggest dates in the university sporting calendar returns this Wednesday as Cardiff Met and Cardiff University go head-to-head once again in the Cardiff Clash at Cardiff Arms Park.
Tickets are now on sale for the double-header on Wednesday 7 October, with Cardiff Met’s women and men preparing to take on their city rivals in front of another big crowd in the Welsh capital.
The action begins at 4:30pm, when Cardiff University Women face Cardiff Met Women, before the men take centre stage at 7:00pm. Gates at Cardiff Arms Park will open from 3:30pm.
There will be plenty of recent history behind Wednesday’s encounters following an outstanding run of results for the Archers in last season’s Cardiff Clash fixtures.
The first meeting of the 2025/26 season took place at Cardiff Arms Park on 7 October 2025, when Cardiff Met completed an impressive double over their city rivals.
Cardiff Met Women produced a dominant display to secure a 59-0 victory, before the men followed with a memorable 56-28 win later that evening. More than 6,000 supporters were in attendance as the two universities renewed their rivalry under the lights at the Arms Park.
The sides returned to the same venue on 3 December 2025, with Cardiff Met once again completing the double.
The women recorded a 24-5 victory, while the men were involved in a much tighter contest, eventually edging Cardiff University 31-29. More than 6,530 supporters attended the December fixture as the Archers completed a clean sweep of the four Cardiff Clash matches played during the season.
Those results provide the backdrop to Wednesday night, but another chapter in the rivalry is now ready to be written.
Cardiff Met supporters heading to the Arms Park will be based in the Sir Gareth Edwards Stand (North), while Cardiff University supporters will be located in the Peter Thomas Stand (South). Seating and standing for the fixture will be unreserved.
